Thanks so much for writing a fic or other piece of writing (I'm open to IF or other alternative fiction media) for me in this exchange! I'm really excited to see what you create! Feel free to disregard my prompts if you don't like any of them - I'm really not picky except with my DNWs.

General Likes - unexpected twists, subversions/new explanations of canon material, clever explanations or interpretations of canon plotholes, canon-divergent AUs, slow burn, friends to lovers (or enemies to friends to lovers), magical realism, time travel, surrealism (playing with the border between reality and unreality), characters being intelligent and competent, romance between eldritch horrors/gods/demons/immortal beings and normal humans, age difference, gay relationships (either f/f or m/m), speaking to the dead, and on-the-very-edge-of-healthy codependent relationships (or even unhealthy codependent relationships, as long as all the participants are happy in the relationship - no Stockholm syndrome please).

As you can see, I'm all about Maia. I will be happy with literally anything Maia-centric. I love Maia because he truly cares about people and worries about the long-term ramifications of his decision, and at the same time, is pretty good at politics, even though he might not see it that way. With Maia pairings, I love him being taken care of, whether that’s his partner(s) taking the weight of ruling off of him and letting him submit to them, or if it’s them letting Maia fuck out his frustrations.

Maia only: Maia is trying to establish diplomatic relations with another country (perhaps he’s trying to negotiate an end to the war with the Evressai “barbarians”?) and he approaches it in his own unique way.

Maia & Idra: Idra and Maia having family interactions is so good~ Maybe Idra comes to Maia for advice on something personal, or Idra and Maia (and Idra’s sisters) go visit the completed Wisdom Bridge together as a family

Csevet/Maia: I really love how much Maia relies on Csevet and how much Csevet is willing to do for him. For a plotty story, maybe something showing Csevet half-accidentally creating a spy network so that he knows ahead of time if someone wants to kill his emperor. For something porny... Csevet has a lot of paperwork to do, so if Maia wants some sex, he might have to make some opportunities himself.

Csevet/Csethiro/Maia: I love the thought of Csevet and Csethiro being the Maia Protection Squad and coordinating their overprotectiveness. Also, porn-wise, I love the thought of the two of them lovingly taking their emperor apart.

Cala/Maia, Cala/Beshalar/Maia, Maia/Telimezh – So I love the idea of the nohecharei (refer to above for my need for everyone to protect Maia) but I also think it would be cool if Maia protected them back (even in an unconventional way – since if Maia dies, they die, so by protecting himself...). Porn-wise, I like it when they use the fact that they must always guard Maia to their advantage – and not only when they’re in the bedroom-proper.

Csevet/Berenar/Maia, Berenar/Maia: Berenar introduces some new “teaching techniques” into the classroom. (Csevet can help out.)

Maia/Varenechibel IV: Honestly I have no idea how this fic would go? I’d be excited to see what you came up with.

Fic or Meta: Worldbuilding: Astronomy, Communion with the gods and goddesses, Magical System, Mazei Novices, Mythology, Pantheon, Postcanon Retellings of Canon, Scientific and Magical Research, Theology, Wildlife & Natural Environment, Witnesses for the Dead

Astronomy: I’d love anything about the constellations in this world, the workings/design of the telescopes, or the observation and importance of astrological events. Mythology or theology could also be tied into this.

Communion with the gods and goddesses, Pantheon, Theology: Any expounding on the goblin/elvish religions would be great. Another element to consider is if, in this land of magic, deities do actually exist, and if so, how much they interfere with mortal matters. Additionally, although it was only briefly mentioned in the book, the religion of the Evressai people of the steppes would be interesting to expound upon.

Magical System: HOW DOES IT WORK? Anything about the different kinds of magic, the limits and the taboos, current conflicting theories/beliefs on the source/workings of magic...

Mazei Novices: How do they find novices? Is it egalitarian, or do children of the rich have a higher chance of getting training? How are they trained?

Mythology: What are the past religions of the world? How have they shaped the traditions and religions of the current day? (Do the stories have a great deal of truth to them?)

Postcanon Retellings of Canon: Are there any theatre performances based on the events in the novel? Are there children stories about the bridge-building emperor?

Scientific and Magical Research: How is it done, and where? Is collaboration common? What sort of subjects are studied, and what areas of research are most popular?

Wildlife & Natural Environment: What are the biomes in the kingdom? How much is understood about the biology of the regions? What sort of plants and animals live in the kingdom?

Witnesses for the Dead: How does one become a Witness for the Dead? Is talking to the dead some sort of natural predilection or is it created/bestowed somehow? Are there people who can speak to the dead who aren’t official Witnesses?
